Threads of Support: Give Back This Denim Week
A single thread can go a long way
Threads of Support is Respect Together’s Denim Week fundraising campaign focused on meeting real needs for survivors and strengthening the support systems they rely on. As communities come together during Denim Week, this campaign offers a meaningful way to stand with survivors, not just in words, but through action.
Some survivors must surrender their clothing as evidence after a sexual assault. Donations can help provide replacement clothing and other comfort items so they are met with dignity, care, and support in that moment.
Please consider giving a gift to your local rape crisis center or donating to Respect Together, where proceeds will be distributed to those most in need.
Where Your Donation Goes
Your gift supports tangible resources that can make a meaningful difference for survivors in the aftermath of sexual violence. Some survivors must surrender their clothing as evidence during a forensic exam after an assault. Donations can help provide replacement clothing and other comfort items so they are met with dignity, care, and support in that moment.
Support may also help provide hygiene items, basic necessities, and other survivor-centered resources that reduce barriers and offer comfort during a difficult time.
Have Questions?
In the moments after sexual violence, small acts of care can make a powerful difference. Your donation helps ensure that survivors are met with dignity, compassion, and real support when they need it most.
That can look like:
- A change of clothes for someone leaving a forensic exam after their clothing was taken as evidence
- Basic care items that help restore comfort and a sense of control
- Support that helps survivors access advocacy, counseling, and healing services
- Resources that remind survivors they are not alone
Because support isn’t optional. It’s essential. And it starts with all of us.
Rape Crisis Center Resources
Resources for Centers: Join Threads of Support
Denim Week and Threads of Support offer a powerful opportunity for rape crisis centers to engage your community, raise awareness, and generate meaningful support for survivors.
We’ve created tools and guidance to make it easy for your center to participate—whether you’re planning a full campaign or simply sharing a few posts.
You don’t need a large campaign to make an impact. Small, intentional actions can go a long way.
Start with a Simple Ask
Use Denim Week as your moment to reach out to your community with a clear message:
- Why Denim Week matters
- How your center supports survivors
- What donations will directly support
Keep it clear, direct, and survivor-centered.
Make the Impact Tangible
Donors are more likely to give when they understand exactly how their support helps. Examples you can use:
- Replacement clothing for survivors after forensic exams
- Hygiene and comfort items
- Transportation or access to services
- Advocacy and support resources
Use real, relatable examples to show impact.
Use Multiple Touchpoints
Encourage your community to:
- Email outreach
- Social media posts
- Website updates
- In-person events or Denim Day activities
Repetition builds awareness and increases giving.
Invite Participation, Not Just Donations
Encourage your community to:
- Wear denim and share why
- Post photos using your campaign messaging
- Host small fundraising efforts (office jeans day, etc.)
Engagement leads to giving.
Keep It Short and Urgent
Strong messaging works best when it’s:
- Clear
- Emotional
- Action-Oriented
Examples
- “When survivors reach out, we must be there.”
- “Support that can’t wait.”
- “Action-Oriented”
Subject: Wear Denim. Support Survivors.
Email Body:
This week, our community is joining a national movement for Denim Week—a time to stand with survivors and take action to end sexual violence.
Every day, survivors in our community reach out for support in some of the most difficult moments of their lives. When they do, there has to be someone there to answer.
Through Threads of Support, we’re raising funds to provide tangible care for survivors, including replacement clothing for those whose clothing is taken as evidence after an assault, as well as other essential items that help restore comfort and dignity.
Your support helps ensure survivors are met with compassion, care, and the resources they need.
Make a gift today and stand with survivors.
Because support can’t wait.
It starts with one thread.
One conversation.
One act of support.
One person choosing to show up.
This Denim Week, your support can help provide real resources for survivors like clothing, care items, and critical services when they need them most. One thread can go a long way. Wear denim. Give back.
