Denim Week 2026
Raising Our Voices. Changing the Narrative.
Denim Week 2026 is a national campaign led by Respect Together to build awareness around Denim Day and strengthen our collective commitment to ending sexual violence.
From Monday, April 27th through Friday, May 1st, communities across the country will come together to raise awareness, challenge harmful narratives and misconceptions, center survivors, and promote a culture of consent and accountability. Each day highlights a different theme, including understanding consent, rewriting harmful narratives, and showing up for lasting change.
Denim Week is an opportunity for advocates, organizations, and community members to learn, speak out, and take action. Together, we can transform awareness into meaningful change for survivors and future generations.
Threads of Support
This Denim Week, we’re taking it one step further by inviting sexual assault centers to use Threads of Support as a giving campaign, with ready-to-use resources to help them reach their communities and invite support for survivors.

How Denim Day Began
Denim Day traces back to a landmark protest against victim-blaming. After an Italian court overturned a sexual assault conviction based on the survivor’s clothing, advocates around the world responded by wearing denim as a symbol of protest and solidarity.
What began as a single act of resistance has become an international campaign that challenges myths about sexual violence and supports survivors everywhere.

Let’s make an impact together!
Today, we’re kicking off Denim Week 2026! All week long, we’re coming together to uplift survivors, build stronger communities, and take action together.
We’re starting the week off with something that shapes everything: consent. Consent is a freely given, informed, and reversible agreement. Silence is not consent. Pressure is not consent. Everyone has the right to decide what happens with their body.
When we center consent, we create relationships and communities where everyone feels valued and safe.
Let’s start Denim Week by celebrating what respect looks like.

It’s Denim Week, and today we’re rewriting the narrative!
Together, we have the power to shape a culture rooted in respect, empathy, and understanding. When we uplift survivor voices and challenge harmful norms, we help create a world where people feel seen, heard, and supported.
Small shifts in how we speak, listen, and respond can create big change. Let’s keep working toward a world rooted in respect and free of sexual abuse, assault, and harassment.

Today, we honor Denim Day. What began as a moment of protest in 1999 grew into a global movement that brings people together to stand with survivors and promote respect. We must recognize injustice and make our voices heard, just as the women of the Italian Parliament did by wearing jeans on the steps of the Supreme Court.
Wearing denim today is a simple but powerful way to show support, spark conversations, and be part of something bigger. Across the country and right here in our communities, people are showing up in solidarity.
Today and every day, we uplift survivors and stand together.

Denim Week continues, and today is all about community. Real change happens when we come together. Preventing sexual violence is not one person’s responsibility. Advocates, educators, leaders, friends, and neighbors all play a role in creating spaces where people feel safe, respected, and supported.
Every conversation, every action, and every moment of support matters. Together, we’re building something stronger.

As Denim Week wraps up, the momentum keeps going! Showing up for survivors can look like so many things. It can mean listening, learning, speaking up, or simply being there. We must recognize that this is a systemic issue that requires all of us. Every action, big or small, helps create a more supportive and respectful world.
This week is just the beginning. Let’s keep showing up for each other, for our communities, and for lasting change.

Join us for Denim Week this April as we raise awareness and support survivors!
What began as a moment of protest has grown into a global movement, and [Center Name] is proud to stand with communities worldwide in raising awareness and supporting survivors.
Created in April 1999, Denim Day began when the women of the Italian Parliament protested a high court decision that overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight denim jeans. This act of victim-blaming sparked international outrage and ignited a movement that continues to this day. Now recognized each year on the last Wednesday of April, Denim Day is a powerful reminder that what someone wears is never consent.
While the events that sparked Denim Day are decades behind us, the need to challenge harmful narratives and support survivors remains as important as ever.
[Center Name] invites you to wear your denim on Wednesday, April 29, as a visible statement of solidarity and support. Stand with survivors. Start conversations. Be part of the movement.
Together, we can create a community rooted in respect, support, and action.
