Respect Together In Action: Moving the Movement Forward

A message from Jennifer Grove, COO of Respect Together’s national division, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC)

Action takes many forms. Sometimes it’s advocating for policy change on Capitol Hill. Or opening our doors to strengthen relationships with our community. It can also be in the form of sharing research and resources that educate or speaking out about emerging threats to safety. Each action, big or small, helps move the movement forward toward a future free from sexual abuse, assault, and harassment.

In this edition of our Quarterly Newsletter, Respect Together in Action, you’ll see how our organization is advancing our mission through advocacy, leadership, education, and community engagement.

Our team is gearing up to host the National Sexual Assault Conference® (NSAC), August 19-21 in Washington, D.C. NSAC is where the movement comes together to learn, collaborate, and strengthen our collective impact. This year’s theme, “United in Purpose, Committed to Action,” reminds us that lasting change is built through shared commitment and meaningful action.

You’ll also read about our recent Open House in Harrisburg, where we welcomed partners, supporters, and community members to learn more about Respect Together’s work. We also participated in Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill alongside nearly 200 partners from across the country calling for critical funding for survivor services and prevention.

This issue also highlights timely thought leadership from across Respect Together. The Pennsylvania Coalition to Advance Respect examines the urgent need for legislative action and increased funding as artificial intelligence accelerates abuse. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s latest issue of The Resource explores the intersection of disability and gender-based violence and invites readers to deepen their understanding of the systemic barriers and cultural attitudes that contribute to increased vulnerability amongst the disability community. We also share Respect Together’s expert perspective following CNN’s investigation into online networks that normalize and enable sexual violence.

Finally, we’re pleased to welcome five new members to Respect Together’s Board of Directors and celebrate CEO Yolanda Edrington’s recognition at the 37th Annual Tribute to Women of Excellence Awards. Both of these milestones are reminders that it takes strong leadership and dedicated partnerships to continue to strengthen our movement.

Thank you for being part of this work. We hope these stories inform, inspire, and encourage you to join us as we continue moving the movement forward.

Warmly,
Jennifer Grove
